Wet Lips is the trio of lead singer and guitarist, Grace Kindellan, bassist Jenny Mckechnie (of Cable Ties) and newly introduced drummer, Georgia Maggie (of Girl Crazy). Since releasing their debut EP in 2015, Wet Lips’ debut album has been a highly anticipated wait for their fans.
“Can't Take It Anymore” follows on from their split 7” with Cable Ties. It has the garage-crank of DIYers King Tuff and Jay Reatard, meets the hip-shakers and harmonies of Hunx & His Punx. Power chords cut through sweet bass hooks and stone-age thump to create the sort of primitive rock 'n' roll that urges you to drop out, make out or pass out.
It was “written after the last gig we played as the token 'girl band' on an all-male line-up,” explains the band. “We'd been booked to play first - before an all-male band that was only playing their first gig. It was the final straw. We stopped saying yes to all-male line-ups and instead started worked on being part of a strong community of women, GNC and trans musicians who support and inspire us.” Recorded by Paul Maybury at A Secret Location Sound Recording, “Can’t Take It Anymore” features original drummer, Mohini, who recently departed the band to focus on their other project, HABITS.
The band will launch "Can't Take It Anymore" at their annual WETFEST, which is now in its third year.
