Formed on New South Wales’ South Coast, with half the members living there and the other half in Sydney, Sun Sap spend most of their time seeking solace at drummer, Shaun Gaida’s coastal farm, ‘Alhambra’. Converging on the farm after some time apart and abroad, the band came together effortlessly to write and record the demos they’d written while away.
One of those many fruits of the sessions is their second single “Hanging Hearts”, recorded by Shaun Gaida and mixed by Timothy R Dunn (Kirin J Callanan, Frowning Clouds, Straight Arrows) at Hanging Tree Studios. Reluctant to reveal all, Adam explains Hanging Hearts “is a bit of a look at lovers, at life and the ups and downs that comes with it.”
The sextet’s laidback surf-rock vibes and take-off-your-shoes-and-dance melodies has already seen them support the likes of US garage rockers, Guantanamo Baywatch, Australia (the band) and The Pretty Littles, along with upcoming shows with Food Court and Polish Club.
Soaked in warm rays, copper-tinted, and framed by expired film stock, Sun Sap’s unabashedly buoyant and carefree loose grooves of “Hanging Hearts” will have your foot tappin’ before the ends out. “Hanging Hearts” is a snippet of what’s to come from the bands debut LP, coming in the new year.
