River Blue, the musical project of Melbourne-based, Lachlan Duthie, today release their second single, “Mark Of A Man” off River Blue’s forthcoming EP, Young At Heart. River Blue will launch “Mark Of A Man” live with his band at The Workers Club on March 30.
Following on from lead single, “Iron Rivers” released late last year, “Mark Of A Man” looks inwardly; it’s about “being comfortable and confident enough in your character to behave transparently around different people. The ‘mark’ referring to one’s being, persona, identity”, explains Duthie.
River Blue’s debut is a collection of 4-minute songs written and recorded over two years in Melbourne, prior to actually calling himself River Blue. Duthie’s ability to weave alt-country and 60s rock into a nostalgic yet new sound is at the forefront on Young At Heart, while providing an insight into the inner workings of himself.
River Blue’s skewed take on alt country finds Duthie’s soaring vocals grow in confidence and intensity, while maintaining an admired restraint.
